Is it Better to Repair or Replace a Water Heater?
Sometimes our customers ask us whether it’s better to repair or replace their water heater. While we can’t decide for them, we can make a recommendation based on a few simple facts.
1. Age of Your Water Heater
A hot water tank will last about 10 years, sometimes a bit more. Tankless models can last up to 20 years. If your water heater is getting close to the end of its working life, it may be time to replace it before it starts to leak or stop working. Sometimes it is not possible to get parts for discontinued models.
2. How Costly is the Repair?
Some repairs are much cheaper. Others can cost almost the same as buying a whole new system, which makes replacing a better choice long term.
3. Energy Costs
If you have an older, less efficient system a new energy efficient system may pay for itself – especially if there’s a rebate happening. If your current system runs on electricity or propane, converting to natural gas can save a fortune. We can provide you with replacement costs so you can sit down with your monthly bills and crunch the numbers. Depending on your situation and the efficiency of your old and new systems, you could save 40% or more on your bills.
Expertise and Great Service – Without Sales Pressure
We know sometimes it’s hard to weigh the costs or repairing your furnace against getting a new one. Your ATEL Air technician will give you the facts you need to make an informed decision that’s right for you and your family. You’ll get an honest recommendation, not a lot of pressure to buy more than you need.
No matter what you decide, we’re here to help you. Our technicians don’t earn a commission, so they have no reason to try and sell you something you don’t need.
Instead, we give you the facts so you can decide what makes the most financial sense for your family. That’s the ATEL Air way, and it means our customers come back to us again and again, and recommend us to family and friends alike.
