What Makes Embrun Special
Embrun is more than just a bedroom community for Ottawa, although we totally see why people would rather live here, even if it means a longer commute! At only 20 minutes east of Ottawa, it provides people with a wonderful selection of homes for much less than you’d find in the city.
But Embrun has a proud history of its own, including timber, agriculture, and a wonderful balance of French and English.
Family Fun and the Great Outdoors
Embrun is a family town, with lots of room for kids to run around and play. In Embrun there are great resources and schools for kids of all ages. If you’re looking for sports leagues, local parks and other activities? Check this handy guide from Russell Township. This great site has everything from kids’ camps to sports leagues to information about boat launches.
One of our favourite attractions is Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm. In spring, the sugar bush is a huge draw as soon as the sap starts running. There is also the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and lots of other events all season long. It’s a great venue for weddings, with its combination of rustic charm and fairy tale beauty.
The J. Henry Tweed Conservation Area provides a great array of recreational activities for people who love hiking, mountain biking, and more.
If Embrun Doesn’t Have It, It’s Nearby
If you’re a golfer, the 9-hole Embrun Golf Club is a short drive away. But Embrun is also literally surrounded by golf courses, including the Bearbrook, the GreyHawk, and the Metcalfe Golf Club. There’s also boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing to be found on the Castor River and the South Nation River as well. The Calypso Water Park is also just a 15-20 minute drive away.
A Great Place to Relax
After enjoying the great outdoors, there’s lots of ways to put your feet up in Embrun too. The HardStones Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner when you’re ready for a bite to eat. The Half Pint Pub is a friendly place to meet with friends and neighbours, and they have a wonderful patio you can enjoy when the weather’s friendly. If you’re ready to kick up your heels, the Lucky 7 Sports Bar has lots of great music happening – check out their Facebook page for the latest announcements on who’s playing. If you’re looking for a deeper level of rejuvenation, the Bay Street Salon and Spa is ready to pamper you. When you’re done, you can treat yourself to a coffee and something tasty from the Boulangerie du Village/Village Bakery.
